League Cup 2016-17 : Gillingham beats Southend 3-1 to qualify for next round
Aug. 9, 2016 (AMP) — League Cup 2016-17 : Gillingham defeated Southend United by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 0-1), in the League Cup first round on Tuesday night.
Emmanuel-thomas Jay scored dual goals
Southend United had started off well by taking the lead in the 34th minute with a goal by Mclaughlin Stephen. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Gills nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring three times in the second period (Mcdonald Cody '56 and Emmanuel-thomas Jay '74, '88).
