League Cup 2017-18 : Cardiff City beats Portsmouth 2-1 in extra time to qualify for next round
CARDIFF, Aug. 8, 2017 (AMP) — League Cup 2017-18 : Cardiff City defeated Portsmouth 2-1 after extra time, in the League Cup first round on Tuesday night at the Cardiff City Stadium.
The score was still 1-1 after the 90 minutes of regulation time, after goals from Morrison ('32 own goal) for Portsmouth and Mendez-Laing ('48) for Cardiff City, and both teams had to wait for overtime to settle the issue. In the 113rd minute, it was ultimately the Cardiff City defender Greg Halford who brought Cardiff City to victory by scoring the winning goal.
