SHEFFIELD, Aug. 8, 2017 (AMP) — League Cup 2017-18 : Sheffield Wednesday defeated Chesterfield by a score of 4-1 (halftime: 2-1), in the League Cup first round on Tuesday night at the Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield.
Chesterfield opened the score in the score in the 38th minute thanks to Dennis on penalty, before Sheffield Wednesday regained the advantage with Hooper ('43) and Fletcher ('45). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Owls further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Bannan '75 and Hutchinson '83).
