BIRMINGHAM, Aug. 22, 2017 (AMP) — League Cup 2017-18 : Aston Villa defeated Wigan Athletic by a score of 4-1 (halftime: 3-1), in the League Cup second round on Tuesday night at Villa Park in Birmingham.

Scott Hogan scored dual goals

Aston Villa dominated the first half thanks to goals from Hogan ('19, '44) and Adomah ('36). Leading 3-1 at the break, the Villans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Bjarnason in the 74th minute.
