ADELAIDE, May. 29, 2004 (AMP) — Australia 2004 : The Solomon Islands defeated Vanuatu by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game (Final Tournament) on Saturday at the Marden Sports Complex in Adelaide.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Batram Suri on penalty in the 51st minute.
The result put the Solomon Islander top of the group with 3 points. In their next game, the Solomon Islands will meet New Zealand at the Marden Sports Complex on May 31, while Vanuatu will face the Fiji.
