ADELAIDE, May. 31, 2004 (AMP) — Australia 2004 : Australia defeated Tahiti by a big score of 9-0 (halftime: 3-0), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game (Final Tournament) on Monday at the Hindmarsh Stadium in Adelaide.
Mile Sterjovski scored tripple goals
Australia dominated the first half thanks to goals from Cahill ('14), Skoko ('43) and Simon ('44 own). Leading 3-0 at the break, the Australians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring six times (Cahill '47, Sterjovski '51, '61, '74, Zdrilic '85 and Chipperfield '89).
The result put the Australians top of the group with 6 points. Tahiti is 5th with one point. In their next game, Australia will meet second-placed the Fiji at the Hindmarsh Stadium on June 2, while Tahiti will face the Solomon Islands.
