ADELAIDE, May. 31, 2004 (AMP) — Australia 2004 : New Zealand defeated the Solomon Islands by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game (Final Tournament) on Monday at the Marden Sports Complex in Adelaide.
New Zealand dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Fisher in the 36th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the New Zealanders further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Oughton '81 and Lines '90).
The result put the New Zealander third in the group with 3 points. The Solomon Islands is fourth with 3 points. In their next game, New Zealand will meet Vanuatu at the Marden Sports Complex on June 2, while the Solomon Islands will face Tahiti.
