ADELAIDE, Jun. 2, 2004 (AMP) — Australia 2004 : Australia defeated the Fiji by a big score of 6-1 (halftime: 2-1), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game (Final Tournament) on Wednesday at the Marden Sports Complex in Adelaide.
Tim Cahill scored tripple goals
Australia dominated the first half thanks to goals from Madaschi ('6) and Cahill ('39). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Australians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring four times (Madaschi '50, Cahill '66, '75 and Elrich '89).
The result put the Australians top of the group with 9 points. The Fiji is third with 4 points. In their next game, Australia will meet Vanuatu at the Marden Sports Complex on June 4, while the Fiji will face the Solomon Islands.
