ADELAIDE, Jun. 4, 2004 (AMP) — Australia 2004 : New Zealand defeated Tahiti by a big score of 10-0 (halftime: 5-0), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game (Final Tournament) on Friday at the Marden Sports Complex in Adelaide.
Coveny and Fisher scored tripple goals
New Zealand dominated the first half thanks to goals from Coveny ('6, '38, '45) and Fisher ('16, '22). Leading 5-0 at the break, the New Zealanders further widened their lead in the second period by scoring five times (Fisher '63, Jones '72, Oughton '74 and Nelsen '82, '87).
The result put the New Zealander third in the group with 6 points. Tahiti is bottom with one point. In their last game, New Zealand will meet the Fiji at the Marden Sports Complex on June 6, while Tahiti will face Vanuatu.
