ADELAIDE, Jun. 4, 2004 (AMP) — Australia 2004 : Australia defeated Vanuatu by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a OFC Nations Cup group stage game (Final Tournament) on Friday at the Hindmarsh Stadium in Adelaide.
John Aloisi scored dual goals
Australia dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward John Aloisi in the 25th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Australians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Emerton '81 and Aloisi '85).
The result put the Australians top of the group with 12 points. Vanuatu is 5th with 3 points. In their last game, Australia will meet second-placed the Solomon Islands at the Hindmarsh Stadium on June 6, while Vanuatu will face Tahiti.
