Australia beats Solomon Islands 5-1 to win 2004 OFC Nations Cup
HONIARA, Oct. 9, 2004 (AMP) — Australia 2004 : Australia defeated the Solomon Islands by a big score of 5-1 (halftime: 4-0), in the first leg of a final on Saturday at the Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara.
Josip Skoko scored dual goals
Australia dominated the first half thanks to goals from Skoko ('5, '28), Milicic ('19) and Emerton ('43). Leading 4-0 at the break, the Australians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Elrich in the 79th minute.
The second leg between the Solomon Islands and Australia will be played on Tuesday October 12, 2004 in Sydney.
