OFC Nations Cup 2008 : New Zealand beats Vanuatu 2-1
PORT VILA, Nov. 17, 2007 (AMP) — 2008 : New Zealand defeated Vanuatu by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a OFC Nations Cup final round game (Final Tournament) on Saturday afternoon at the Korman Stadium in Port Vila.
Vanuatu had started off well by taking the lead in the 32nd minute with a goal by Naprapol. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the New Zealanders nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Smeltz '53 and Mulligan '90).
The result put the New Zealander top of the group with 6 points. In their next game, New Zealand will meet third-placed Vanuatu at the Korman Stadium on November 21, while Vanuatu will face New Zealand.
