OFC Nations Cup 2008 : New Caledonia defeats Vanuatu 3-0
NOUMEA, Jun. 21, 2008 (AMP) — 2008 : New Caledonia defeated Vanuatu by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a OFC Nations Cup final round game (Final Tournament) on Saturday afternoon at the Numa Daly Stadium in Noumea.
New Caledonia dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Wajoka in the 36th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the New Caledonians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (M. Hmaé '60 and Diaike '87).
The result put the New Caledonians second in the group with 8 points. Vanuatu is bottom with one point. In their next game, New Caledonia will meet group leaders New Zealand at the Numa Daly Stadium on September 6, while Vanuatu will face the Fiji.
