Nigeria beats Denmark to advance to Olympics semifinals
SALVADOR, Aug. 13, 2016 (AMP) — Rio 2016 : Nigeria reached the semifinals of the 2016 Olympics with a 2-0 win against Denmark (halftime: 1-0) on Saturday afternoon at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador.
Nigeria dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder John Obi Mikel in the 15th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Nigerians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Umar in the 59th minute.
