Dynamo Dresden had started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Hauptmann Niklas ('7) and Gogia Akaki ('25). Trailing 2-0 at half time, VfL Bochum players nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring four times in the second period (Eisfeld '50, Stiepermann '51, Losilla '70 and Saglam Gorkem '88).
