FC Heidenheim midfielder Maxi Thiel opened the score in the 22nd minute, before seeing Erzgebirge Aue catch up in the 31st minute thanks to Soukou Cebio. 1-1 at half time. FC Heidenheim eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Titsch-Rivero with just 8 minutes remaining in regulation time.
