BANGKOK, Jun. 29, 1996 (AMP) — Emirates 1996 (Qualifiers) : Singapore defeated the Maldives by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 1996 AFC Asian Cup on Saturday.
The result put the Singaporeans second in Group 3 with 6 points. The Maldives is bottom with no points. In their next game, Singapore will meet group leaders Thailand on July 1, while the Maldives will face Burma.
