SINGAPORE, Jul. 7, 1996 (AMP) — Emirates 1996 (Qualifiers) : Singapore defeated the Maldives by a score of 5-2 (halftime: 5-2), in a qualifying game for the 1996 AFC Asian Cup on Sunday.
The result put the Singaporeans second in Group 3 with 11 points. The Maldives is bottom with no points. In their last game, Singapore will meet group leaders Thailand on July 9, while the Maldives will face Burma.
