TEHRAN, Apr. 7, 2000 (AMP) — Lebanon 2000 (Qualifiers) : Syria defeated the Maldives by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2000 AFC Asian Cup on Friday.
The result put the Syrians second in Group 2 with 9 points. The Maldives is bottom with no points. In their next game, Syria will meet group leaders Iran on April 9, while the Maldives will face Bahrain.
