Champions League 2016-17 Qualifiers : Red Star beats Valletta 2-1

PAOLA, Jul. 12, 2016 (AMP) — Champions League 2016-17 (Qualifiers) : Red Star Belgrade defeated Valletta by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in the first leg of a Champions League qualifier tie on Tuesday night.

Valletta had started off well by taking the lead in the 15th minute with a goal by Falcone. Trailing 1-0 at half time, Zvezda nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Katai '66 and Sikimić '75).

The second leg between Valletta and Red Star Belgrade will be played on Tuesday July 19, 2016 (kick-off: 20:30) in Belgrade.
