Championship (Week 3) : Newcastle defeats Reading 4-1
ENGLAND, Aug. 17, 2016 (AMP) — Championship / Match day 3: After losing 1-0 to Fulham on August 13 and 1-2 to Huddersfield Town on August 13, the Magpies bounced back with a 4-1 victory over Reading this Wednesday.
Dwight Gayle scored dual goals
Hayden Isaac opened the score in the 20th minute, before seeing Reading catch up in the 45th minute thanks to Garath McCleary penalty kick. 1-1 at half time. The Magpies eventually won the game in the second period with three more goals by Ritchie ('50 on penalty) and Gayle ('69, '89).
Newcastle United climbed to 17th place with 3 points from 3 games, only one point behind Derby County FC.
