MONTEVIDEO, Feb. 1, 1956 (AMP) — Uruguay 1956 : Brazil defeated Peru by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a Copa América final round game (Final tournament) on Wednesday.

The result put the Brazilians third in the group with 4 points. Peru is bottom with no points. In their next game, Brazil will meet group leaders Argentina on February 5, while Peru will face Paraguay.
