Peru beats Colombia in extra time to advance to Copa América semifinals
CORDOBA, Jul. 16, 2011 (AMP) — Argentina 2011 : Peru reached the semifinals of the 2011 Copa América courtesy of a 2-0 extra time victory over Colombia (following a 0-0 draw in regulation) on Saturday afternoon at the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes in Cordoba.
The score was still nil-all after the 90 minutes of regulation time and both teams had to wait for overtime to settle the issue. The Peruvians finally broke through with goals from Lobatón ('101) and Juan Manuel Vargas ('111).
