MIDDLESBROUGH, Aug. 26, 2014 (AMP) — League Cup 2014-15 : Middlesbrough defeated Preston by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 0-0), in the League Cup second round on Tuesday night.

Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Tomlin ('51, '66) and Fewster ('57).
