Austria beats Hungary to advance to World Cup semifinals
BOLOGNA, May. 31, 1934 (AMP) — Italy 1934 : Austria reached the semifinals of the 1934 FIFA World Cup with a 2-1 win against Hungary (halftime: 1-0) on Thursday afternoon at the Stadio Littoriale in Bologna.
Austria dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Johann Horvath in the 8th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Austrians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Zischek in the 51st minute.
