Italy beats Czechoslovakia 2-1 in extra time to win 1934 World Cup
ROME, Jun. 10, 1934 (AMP) — Italy 1934 : Italy claimed the FIFA World Cup crown courtesy of a 2-1 extra time victory over Czechoslovakia (following a 1-1 draw in regulation) in the final on Sunday afternoon at the Stadio Nazionale del PNF in Rome.
The score was still 1-1 after the 90 minutes of regulation time, after goals from Antonín Puc ('71) for Czechoslovakia and Raimundo Orsi ('81) for Italy, and both teams had to wait for overtime to settle the issue. In the 95th minute, it was ultimately the Italian striker Angelo Schiavio who brought the Azzurri to victory by scoring the winning goal.
