Czechoslovakia beats Romania to reach World Cup quarterfinals
TRIESTE, May. 27, 1934 (AMP) — Italy 1934 : Czechoslovakia qualified to the quarter-finals of the 1934 FIFA World Cup with a 2-1 win against Romania (halftime: 0-1) on Sunday afternoon at the Stadio Littorio in Trieste.
Romania had started off well by taking the lead in the 11th minute with a goal by forward Stefan Dobay. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Czechoslovaks nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Puc '50 and Nejedlý '67).
