Germany beats Belgium to reach World Cup quarterfinals
FLORENCE, May. 27, 1934 (AMP) — Italy 1934 : Germany qualified to the quarter-finals of the 1934 FIFA World Cup with a 5-2 win against Belgium (halftime: 1-2) on Sunday afternoon at the Stadio Giovanni Berta in Florence.
Edmund Conen scored tripple goals
Belgium had started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Voorhoof ('29, '43), while Germany only scored once Kobierski ('25). Trailing 2-1 at half time, the Germans nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring four times in the second period (Siffling '49 and Conen '66, '70, '87).
