Sweden beats Argentina to reach World Cup quarterfinals
BOLOGNA, May. 27, 1934 (AMP) — Italy 1934 : Sweden qualified to the quarter-finals of the 1934 FIFA World Cup with a 3-2 win against Argentina (halftime: 1-1) on Sunday afternoon at the Stadio Littoriale in Bologna.
Sven Jonasson scored dual goals
Argentine defender Ernesto Belis opened the score in the 4th minute, before seeing Sweden catch up in the 9th minute thanks to Sven Jonasson. 1-1 at half time. The Swedishs eventually won the game in the second period with two more goals by Jonasson ('67) and Kroon ('79).
