Switzerland beats Netherlands to reach World Cup quarterfinals
MILAN, May. 27, 1934 (AMP) — Italy 1934 : Switzerland qualified to the quarter-finals of the 1934 FIFA World Cup with a 3-2 win against the Netherlands (halftime: 2-1) on Sunday afternoon at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan.
Leopold Kielholz scored dual goals
Switzerland dominated the first half thanks to goals from Kielholz ('7, '43). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Swisss further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Abegglen in the 69th minute.
