Sweden beats Cuba to advance to World Cup semifinals
ANTIBES, Jun. 12, 1938 (AMP) — France 1938 : Sweden reached the semifinals of the 1938 FIFA World Cup with a 8-0 win against Cuba (halftime: 4-0) on Sunday afternoon at the Stade du Fort Carré in Antibes.
Harry Andersson and Gustav Wetterström scored tripple goals
Sweden dominated the first half thanks to goals from Andersson ('9) and Wetterström ('32, '37, '44). Leading 4-0 at the break, the Swedishs further widened their lead in the second period by scoring four times (Keller '80, Andersson '81, '90 and Nyberg '84).
