PARIS, Jun. 19, 1938 (AMP) — France 1938 : Italy claimed a second FIFA World Cup crown with a 4-2 win against Hungary (halftime: 3-1) in the final on Sunday afternoon at the Stade olympique Yves-du-Manoir in Paris.
Gino Colaussi and Silvio Piola scored dual goals
Italy dominated the first half thanks to goals from Colaussi ('6, '35) and Piola ('16). Leading 3-1 at the break, the Italians further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Piola with just 8 minutes remaining in regulation time.
