World Cup 1938 : Brazil beats Sweden 4-2 to claim World Cup third place
BORDEAUX, Jun. 19, 1938 (AMP) — France 1938 : Brazil secured the consolation of third place at the 1938 FIFA World Cup with a 4-2 win against Sweden (halftime: 1-2) on Sunday afternoon at the Stade Chaban Delmas in Bordeaux.
Leônidas scored dual goals
Sweden had started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Jonasson ('28) and Nyberg ('38), while Brazil only scored once Romeu ('44). Trailing 2-1 at half time, the Brazilians nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring three times in the second period (Leônidas '63, '74 and Perácio '80).
