Czechoslovakia beats Netherlands in extra time to reach World Cup quarterfinals
LE HAVRE, Jun. 5, 1938 (AMP) — France 1938 : Czechoslovakia qualified to the quarter-finals of the 1938 FIFA World Cup courtesy of a 3-0 extra time victory over the Netherlands (following a 0-0 draw in regulation) on Sunday night at the Stade Municipal du Havre.
The score was still nil-all after the 90 minutes of regulation time and both teams had to wait for overtime to settle the issue. The Czechoslovaks finally broke through with goals from Kostalek ('93), Nejedlý ('111) and Zeman ('118).
