Hungary beats Dutch East Indies to reach World Cup quarterfinals
REIMS, Jun. 5, 1938 (AMP) — France 1938 : Hungary qualified to the quarter-finals of the 1938 FIFA World Cup with a 6-0 win against the Dutch East Indies (halftime: 4-0) on Sunday afternoon at the Velodrome Municipal in Reims.
György Sárosi and Gyula Zsengellér scored dual goals
Hungary dominated the first half thanks to goals from Kohut ('14), Toldi ('16), Sárosi ('25) and Zsengellér ('30). Leading 4-0 at the break, the Hungarians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Zsengellér '67 and Sárosi '88).
