BERN, Jun. 27, 1954 (AMP) — Switzerland 54 : Hungary reached the semifinals of the 1954 FIFA World Cup with a 4-2 win against Brazil (halftime: 2-1) on Sunday afternoon at the Wankdorf Stadium in Bern.
Sándor Kocsis scored dual goals
Hungary dominated the first half thanks to goals from Hidegkuti ('4) and Kocsis ('7). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Hungarians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Lantos '60/penalty and Kocsis '88).
