SHEFFIELD, Jul. 23, 1966 (AMP) — England 66 : Germany reached the semifinals of the 1966 FIFA World Cup with a 4-0 win against Uruguay (halftime: 1-0) on Saturday afternoon at the Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield.
Helmut Haller scored dual goals
Germany dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Helmut Haller in the 11th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Germans further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Beckenbauer '70, Seeler '75 and Haller '83).
