England beats Portugal to reach World Cup final
LONDON, Jul. 26, 1966 (AMP) — England 66 : England reached the FIFA World Cup final for the very first time in their history with a 2-1 win against Portugal (halftime: 1-0) on Tuesday night at Wembley Stadium.
Bobby Charlton scored dual goals
England dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Bobby Charlton in the 30th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Englishs further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Charlton with just 10 minutes remaining in regulation time.
