LONDON, Jul. 30, 1966 (AMP) — England 66 : England claimed the FIFA World Cup crown courtesy of a 4-2 extra time victory over Germany (following a 2-2 draw in regulation) in the final on Saturday afternoon at Wembley Stadium.

Geoff Hurst scored tripple goals

The score was still 2-1 for England a minute from the end of regulation time, when an unexpected goal from Weber allowed Germany to equalize and just squeeze through to overtime. The Englishs finally broke through with goals from Hurst ('101, '120).
