LISBON, Jun. 13, 1965 (AMP) — England 66 (European Qualifiers) : Portugal defeated Romania by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 1966 FIFA World Cup on Sunday.

The result put the Portuguese top of Group 4 with 8 points. Romania is second with 4 points. In their next game, Portugal will meet third-placed Czechoslovakia on October 31, while Romania will face Czechoslovakia.
