Brazil beats Uruguay to reach World Cup final
GUADALAJARA, Jun. 17, 1970 (AMP) — Mexico 70 : Brazil reached the FIFA World Cup final for the third time in their history with a 3-1 win against Uruguay (halftime: 1-1) on Wednesday afternoon at the Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara.
Uruguayan midfielder Luis Cubilla opened the score in the 19th minute, before seeing Brazil catch up in the 44th minute thanks to Clodoaldo. 1-1 at half time. The Brazilians eventually won the game in the second period with two more goals by Jairzinho ('76) and Rivelino ('89).
