MUNICH, Jul. 6, 1974 (AMP) — Germany 74 : Poland secured the consolation of third place at the 1974 FIFA World Cup with a 1-0 win against Brazil (halftime: 0-0) on Saturday afternoon at the Olympic Stadium in Munich.
Brazil made the Poles doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Polish forward Grzegorz Lato in the 76th minute.
