MONTERREY, Oct. 15, 1977 (AMP) — Argentina 78 (American Qualifiers) : Mexico defeated Suriname by a big score of 8-1 (halftime: 3-1), in a qualifying game for the 1978 FIFA World Cup (Final Tournament) on Saturday.
The result put the Mexicans top of the group with 6 points. Suriname is bottom with no points. In their next game, Mexico will meet second-placed Guatemala on October 19, while Suriname will face El Salvador.
