Italy beats Poland to reach World Cup final
BARCELONA, Jul. 8, 1982 (AMP) — Spain 82 : Italy reached the FIFA World Cup final for the fourth time in their history with a 2-0 win against Poland (halftime: 1-0) on Thursday afternoon at the Camp Nou in Barcelona.
Paolo Rossi scored dual goals
Italy dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Paolo Rossi in the 22nd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Italians further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Rossi in the 73rd minute.
