Czechoslovakia beats Costa Rica to reach World Cup quarterfinals
BARI, Jun. 23, 1990 (AMP) — Italy 90 : Czechoslovakia qualified to the quarter-finals of the 1990 FIFA World Cup with a 4-1 win against Costa Rica (halftime: 1-0) on Saturday night at the Stadio San Nicola in Bari.
Tomáš Skuhravý scored tripple goals
Czechoslovakia dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Tomáš Skuhravý in the 12th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Czechoslovaks further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Skuhravý '63, '82 and Kubík '75).
