Argentina beats Brazil to reach World Cup quarterfinals
TURIN, Jun. 24, 1990 (AMP) — Italy 90 : Argentina qualified to the quarter-finals of the 1990 FIFA World Cup with a 1-0 win against Brazil (halftime: 0-0) on Sunday afternoon at the Stadio delle Alpi in Turin.
Brazil made the Argentines doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Argentine forward Claudio Caniggia with just 10 minutes remaining in regulation time.
