ROME, Jun. 25, 1990 (AMP) — Italy 90 : Italy qualified to the quarter-finals of the 1990 FIFA World Cup with a 2-0 win against Uruguay (halftime: 0-0) on Monday night at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Uruguay made the Italians doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with goals by Schillaci ('65) and Serena ('83).
