Germany beats England in shoot out to reach World Cup final
TURIN, Jul. 4, 1990 (AMP) — Italy 90 : Germany reached the FIFA World Cup final for the sixth time in their history after defeating England 4-3 on penalties (after a 1-1 draw) on Wednesday night at the Stadio delle Alpi in Turin.
The score was still 1-1 at the end of the regulation game time and overtime, after goals from Andreas Brehme ('60) for Germany and Gary Lineker ('80) for England. The Germans finally emerged the victors in the penalty shootout session by winning 4-3.
