ROME, Jul. 8, 1990 (AMP) — Italy 90 : Germany claimed a third FIFA World Cup crown with a 1-0 win against Argentina (halftime: 0-0) in the final on Sunday night at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
45 minutes of play and neither the Germans nor the Argentines have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by German defender Andreas Brehme on penalty with just 5 minutes remaining in regulation time.
