Sweden beats Saudi Arabia to reach World Cup quarterfinals
DALLAS, Jul. 3, 1994 (AMP) — USA 94 : Sweden qualified to the quarter-finals of the 1994 FIFA World Cup with a 3-1 win against Saudi Arabia (halftime: 1-0) on Sunday afternoon at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
Kennet Andersson scored dual goals
Sweden dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Martin Dahlin in the 6th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Swedishs further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Andersson '51, '88).
